Alexandra, your doula.

I am a mother, Certified Professional Birth Doula, prenatal yoga teacher, and childbirth educator, who—since 2015—has served mothers and their families in Jackson, Lansing, Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas as they prepare their bodies and minds for the adventure of having a baby.

Why Have a Doula?

Women who have doulas attend their births report greater satisfaction with their birth experience and consistently have a lower incidence of medical interventions and a lower chance of cesarean section.

Pregnancy

Throughout your pregnancy I will support you as your body and mind adjust to make space for your growing babe. I provide two prenatal meetings in which we discuss healthy pregnancy nutrition, exercise, emotional well-being, mindfulness, your birth goals, what to expect at hospital, what birth feels like, coping, and relaxation techniques.

Birth

During the month of your birth I am on call 24/7 to attend you. I come with a basket of labor snacks and words of reassurance for you and your partner as you bring your babe into the world. I am also trained in extensive labor and pain-reduction techniques, including massage, counter-pressure, optimal positioning, rebozo, etc., as well as basic breastfeeding help.

PostPartum & Beyond

After you bring your babe home, I come for a postpartum visit in which we discuss your feelings surrounding your birth, discuss how your sleep, baby feeding, and recovery is going and try different options for babywearing options. I am aalso equipped with an extensive directory of care providers should you and your newborn need any extra help in breastfeeding, emotional therapy, nutrition, etc.

“Birth is not only about making babies.
Birth is about making mothers –
strong, competent, capable mothers
who trust themselves
and know their inner strength.”
